Makeup for this time of year

Autumn makeup using @limecrimemakeup Salem on the lips, #mac goldmine and devilishly dark and a copper for the eyeshadow. Skin has been primed with @smashboxcosmetics photo finish primer and foundation is @kryolanofficial G177, contour has been created with the glamour glow 8 colour palette.

I love love love this look. The eyes are soft but still are carried against my dark hair and eyeliner flicks. You will notice as the blog continues I am a big fan of the 60's flick.
Salem Lime crime is also my favourite lick colour the matt finish looks so cool. As I'm currently based here in the UK Limecrime is harder to get ahold of but not impossible. Websites like Love Makeup & Cocktail Cosmetics sell a number of products... Getting the new Venus Grunge palette though is hard and pains me everyday knowing the beautiful copper eyeshadows aren't on my lids. TAKE NOTE the Limecrime Velvetine's aren't the longest lasting product. I had mine for about 6 weeks and noticed it was already drying up and finishing; of course though I wore it about 4 times as week as it quickly became my favourite lip colouring.

This look would also look great using a slightly more orange/copper eye shadowing; perfect for all skin types.

Elizabethan Project- Year 1, Term 1 ♡

Not only on my course do I do makeup but I also do hair styling. Hair for my has always been one of those things I've been terrible at until two months ago the only plait I could do for my entire life was the classic three sectioning plait that most five year olds can also achieve.

Our project was called 'The New Elizabethans' a pretty vast and widely intriguing project that was filled with film reviews and practicing. Yes eyebrows were blocked out. No I don't suit the look especially with the bushes I have on my face its alien territory.

This project was great. yeah stressful as hell but it was interesting. Like the little historian I was brought up to be the whole Tutor era from Bloody Mary & Henry VIII I knew my shit. Just call me Indiana might as well.

The project was an odd one but also tested our designing skills as obviously in a few years time we probably especially in the early years will be taking direction. Designing is a hugggeeeee skill to learn not only for following but giving.

My Designs my partner did on myself

I would show you my makeup final images but they are so hideously unflattering I will never publish them, bad lighting is my excuse. Well that or I have a lego man head. Here is my design. A Vivienne Westwood (G*D) & Disclosure inspired Elizabethan Look.

Anna's Designs

Hair-

Anna's Design I did on her.

I won't bore will all the facts on the Virgin Queen I learnt. Did you know she had 80+ wigs? That lady was a diva. *snapping fingers*

Face Chart finding is history

As a makeup artist practicing or learning we all know the importance of using face charts in our work. Not only do they help design our looks but we can also use them as a guide to how the create the makeup especially if your a makeup artist on a shoot and another person playing role of designer has created the look.

"Where can I buy face charts that aren't mac" I hear you ask?

The website I use is called Pro Chart and they sell a array of different facial charts from A4 to A3 to even eye charts. I charts myself brought were the 35 pack £12.50 pack due to finding a A4 sizing is easier to work with especially if your working in a studio with limited mirror space.

On the website this is described as the ProChart Pro Pack as it includes all the face chart sizings they sell.

I also brought a pen that is called a 'Eyelash Pen' which is really good for filling in eyebrows/eyeliner and eyelashes. Don't panic about buying this £2.99 pen though any graphic/drawing pen would also be preferable to presenting the same finished look.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has a interest in using face charts in their work not only is the price of these pretty great but the quality of the paper is a high standard being expressed on the website as recycled and textured.

Product listing is also included which is helpful is a look requires a lot of mixing or thats just the way you work.

You can find the website here. check it out!

WhO arE YoU

Currently typing from home, the christmas holidays are upon most of us uni students; The stress and hand ins of our very first term (semester's) are over. I practically ran back to Worthing where my parents house is. Now don't read that and think oh she hates university; I LOVE UNIVERSITY but of course like most things there are downs sides like being poor 24/7 unless your on some amazing student loan or from Qatar there is a chance in the past three months you have been eating frozen £1 garlic bread as dinner. With no mayo. Or having to sit on either your bed of a uncomfortable desk chair that is strangely starting to bobble. Can desk chairs bobble? sitting on a sofa after not being able to sit on any sofa's for a number of weeks in like heaven to your arse. I tell you.

Anyway...
"Who am I?' at the start of my course of Make-up & Hair design at Southampton Solent we had to do a mini summer project of where we saw ourselves in 5 years... In my head I thought the most obvious thing of wanting to work in the theatre and on movies but will that change? probably; I've discovered I like writing, writing a point, writing something that you will randomly stumble across whilst googling honey bees and my blog of what in my mind useful and witty posts you come across.
Make-up was never something I thought I would end up doing a degree on to be fair in college I didn't think I would be doing anything as I though going out socialising was my entire world; how things change. I left college with the worst grades ever (if you're american of course this would be high school) feeling pretty shitty about wasting two years of my life and spending a ridiculous amount of money a week on Mayfair 20 packs. God knows how but I managed to get into Northbrook a local college my way to do a art foundation for a year. The slowest year at the time of my life; I couldn't stand the place but in a way my dislike for the ridiculous ways I was being told spurred me on to actually work. Work hard. Heading into the area of 3-D was when Make-up finally struck me in the heart it was like Cher in Clueless realising her love for Josh.

Quite obviously I ended up doing alright and getting a place at Solent. Now Solent was literally my dream, I was begging and begging who ever to get me into Solent. Its a degree; its not some day course where suddenly you are a Makeup artist. This was the big mamma. I remember in my interview practically begging my interviewer to see my potential.

Getting into there and deciding who I wanted to has changed everything I'm living in Southampton; of course its no London but its still good and I'm working extremely hard. Lameeeee I know. I learnt maybe the hard way things are NOT given to you on a golden plate of life. You won't look like Beyonce sitting on the sofa for eight hours a day eating beef monster munch.

Yes but who are you?
I need to learn how to get to the point.
I'm Amy Curtis but most people that know me call me AJ... 'Amy Jane Curtis' it was a nickname my nan called me and it kind of stuck. Also as I have a extremely common name and it being one of those typical things I had a girl in my year at school called Amy Curtis which sucked balls as there was always eye rolling jokes about who anyone actually meant.

I'm 20; just turned the ripe old age in September. I always find 20 like a waiting room to being 21 like 17 is to 18. Who on earth wants to wait another year until their legal to go out. 21 and I'll be legal everywhere i.e. Hello you big beautiful Apple.

I'm vegetarian. Don't ask me why; I don't like the taste the animal rights views have grown with age and increasing knowledge

I have a mum a dad a sister and a brother who all smell except myself
I am also the baby of the family.

Thats pretty much all that needs to be known right now. Well maybe the exception of my ridiculous and to some mental love for my dog Honey (BlogTitle) she is ten and my furry bestie 4 lyf.
